In the URL bar, type “about:config” and press enter. This will bring up the configuration “menu” where you can change the parameters of Firefox.

Note that these are what I’ve found to REALLY speed up my Firefox significantly - and these settings seem to be common among everybody else as well. But these settings are optimized for broadband connections - I mean with as much concurrent requests we’re going to open up with pipelining… lol… you’d better have a big connection.

Hello folkes. You would have heard about the Facebook Messenger that has been released lately. Facebook Messenger application covers the live chatting part, plus it supports normal messages too. Whats the reason behind an individual chat application when we already could chat from the native Facebook for mobile app?

Still blank on that part, personally. Facebook messenger was available for iOS and Android before they launched it for BlackBerry too, recently. The application now supports many new languages. In an all 22 new for Android and 12 new languages for iOS version.

The native Facebook app had the chat feature but it was pretty laggy. I could often get the message of a particular chat faster than the chat window updated itself. At least now with Facebook Messenger we are able to get the chat updates in real time.

Facebook has really done hard work on improving the overall Facebook experience, specially after the launch of Google + and its various popular features. First the Facebook for mobile app got an overall with huge changes to the app. Finding stuff is now a whole lot easier and notifications, friend request etc are all easily accessible. 4 Steps to a Good Password

Before we begin, we must be clear on one major
expectation: there is no such thing as a perfect password. A committed
hacker can crack any password, given enough time and the right
"dictionary" or "brute force" tools. But just like breaking into a car, if the protection is strong enough, the hacker will become discouraged and commonly give up before the protection fails.

1. Start With a Base Word Phrase.

 

A good password starts with a base word phrase. This means: choose a memorable catchphrase, quotation, or easy to remember saying, and take the first letter from each word. Choose a phrase that is memorable to you.

Tech tip: passwords
that are 15 characters and more are extremely strong, because Microsoft

3. Scramble the Phrase

Scrambling does not necessarily mean rearranging the letters. Rather, scrambling your password can effectively be achieved by swapping one
or more of the password letters with a non-alphabetic character, and
then purposely including uppercase and lowercase letters within the
password. Scrambling creatively uses the shift key, punctuation
marks, the @ or % symbols, and even semi-colons and periods. Using
numbers as substitutes for letters is another strong scrambling
technique.

4. Lastly: Rotate/Change Your Password Regularly

At
work, your network people will require you to change your password
every several days. At home, you should rotate your passwords as a
matter of good computer hygiene. If you are using different passwords for differents websites, you can do yourself a favor by rotating portions your passwords
every few weeks. Note that rotating parts of the password, not the
entire passwords, will help deter hackers from stealing your phrases. If
you can memorize three or more passwords at the same time, then you are
in good shape to resist brute force hacker attacks.

Reasons Why Windows Is Better Than Mac

You see that almost everyone is fan of Windows and it has a raw amount of users but on other hand, Mac is also in front line Windows. Mac also has great features but is not popular than Windows. Following are the reasons why Windows is better than Mac.

1. Much cheaper. This isn't new, but it's still the No. 1 distinguishing characteristic. The least-expensive new Mac is $999 (not counting the Mac mini, which doesn't really count, and barely sells). For that price, you can get a top-shelf Windows desktop computer or very nice Windows laptop, that will be faster, have more RAM and a larger hard drive than any comparably-priced Mac. Again, the money difference could have been justified before with the superiority of the Mac platform; not so with Windows 7 having closed the gap until it's basically gone.


2. Many more programs available. You're limited with the number of programs available for Mac. This is especially true for high-end gaming -- try to find a hard-core gamer who uses a Mac. Good luck. If you're looking for financial software, for another example, you'll have dozens more options for Windows than Mac. If choice is important to you, Windows is the way to go.


3. More transparent, and better, patching. Microsoft, because of well-earned skepticism of its security practices, has instituted the best and most public patching system in the industry. Every second Tuesday of the month is "Patch Tuesday", the day Microsoft releases Windows patches. The releases also come with detailed explanations and tons more information available than most vendors include. This includes Apple, which would like you to believe that its security is flawless. This is what's known in technical geek-speak as an untruth.


4. More customizable. Let's say you want to add a beefier graphics card to your desktop computer. If you use Windows, there's a whole universe of choices, with a huge range of prices and features. You can upgrade a Mac the same way, but with far, far fewer options available. Apple tightly controls its "ecosystem" -- the vendors it allows to make software and hardware to run on its computers -- whereas Microsoft's ecosystem is much more wide open. That means you can tweak to your heart's content.


5. You won't be part of the Mac fanboy universe. There's no gentle way to say it, so I'll just state it plainly: Mac users can be extremely snobby. There's an air of superiority that clings to many Macophiles, who love to look down on us sub-human Windows scum. This is a generalization, to be sure, and doesn't apply to all Mac users. But it applies to enough of them that I know I don't want to be associated with it.


6. Microsoft isn't ignoring Windows development. This is hard to quantify, but by all appearances, Apple is giving Mac OS short shrift when it comes to development. For instance, most new announcements coming out of Apple these days revolve around the iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch and iPad. In other words, its mobile devices. There hasn't been much innovation over the last several years in OS X "Snow Leopard," its latest OS. Everything seems to be focused on iOS, the OS for the "i" line of mobile gear. Microsoft, on the other hand, is hard at work on the successor to Windows 7. It's also working on its own mobile stuff, but not to the exclusion of Windows. Google now offers the possibility of making and receiving international calls for cheap and free. Standing as a competitor for Skype by offering similar services, Google Calling allows people to make free PC-to-PC calls and cheap calls (as low as 2 cents per minute for some destinations) to and from mobile and landline phones. 2 cents per minute is not the cheapest on the market, but is among the cheapest, and it definitely cheaper than Skype.

In addition to being able to male free calls between Gmail users to and from computers worldwide, Google users can also make calls to landline and mobile phone, but not for free. Calls to phone within the US and Canada remain free, though. 

Google’s calls are quite cheap, among the cheapest on the market, with 2 cents for some destinations like France and Argentina. These rates are much cheaper than those of Skype, which charge additional connection fees. However, Google’s calling minutes are more expensive than some players like Nymgo (as a matter of example), which offers calls for cheaper than a cent per minute.

Gmail calling is considered as a threat to Skype. Although it has a smaller subscriber base than Skype and isn’t as popular, it has the potential of challenging the number one VoIP provider. First, it offers calls for cheaper than Skype, then it brings along Google Voice’s arsenal features, like call recording, voicemail transcription etc. Also, it is incorporated with and email, which makes it better as a Unified Communications tool.

To receive calls within the service, you need a Google Voice number. Not so for making outgoing calls. Without a Google Voice number, your correspondent will see 760-705-8888 on their caller ID, which is Google default number for this service. If you have a Google Voice number, it will appear instead.

There is no need to install a separate application for the service. You just need to download a plugin for Gmail that will be installed and used within your browser. To make a call, just log into your Gmail account; you will be presented with a button to open the softphone and make calls.

Use Windows 7 Without Activation

Most of you might be aware of the fact that it is possible to use Windows 7 and Vista for 120 days without activation. This is actually possible using the slmgr -rearm command which will extend the grace period from 30 days to 120 days. However in this post I will show you a small trick using which it is possible to use Windows 7 without activation for approximately an year! Here is a way to do that.


1. Goto “Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories” . Right click on “Command Prompt” and select “Run as Administrator“. If you are not the administrator then you are prompted to enter the password, or else you can proceed to step-2.

2. Now type the following command and hit enter

slmgr -rearm

3. You will be prompted to restart the computer. Once restarted the trial period will be once again reset to 30 days. You can use the above command for up to 3 times by which you can extend the trial period to 120 days without activation.

4. Now comes the actual trick by which you can extend the trial period for another 240 days. Open Registry Editor (type regedit in “Run” and hit Enter) and navigate to the following

locationHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform

5. In right-side pane, change value of SkipRearm to 1.

6. Now you will be able to use the slmgr -rearm command for another 8 times so that you can skip activation process for another 240 days. So you will get 120 + 240 = 360 days of free Windows 7 usage.
